On September 28th-29th, a kick-off meeting of the INTERMODEL project took place in Barcelona.

INTERMODEL is an EU Horizon 2020-funded research project that aims to develop a methodology and set of ICT tools in order to allow an advanced simulation of railway intermodal logistics platform models to support tasks related with design and operational phases.

The Consortium includes CENIT and companies, research centres and international prestigious universities from Spain, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Holland, Italy and Denmark.

CENIT will analyze the impact of intermodal terminal operations on the performance of the surrounding road network mobility. In particular, CENIT’s Work Package will be focused on the definition of the traffic simulation models (attached to BIM model) for the case studies of La Spezia and Melzo terminals. The impact (external costs) will be assessed in economic and environmental terms through the use of KPIs and KRIs and will be useful to support decision-making regarding final position.
