The objectives of this project were to develop an integrated decision support platform to assess different pilot cases of multimodal, multiproduct and multipurpose freight rail terminals for a wide range of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). By integrating simulation modules of the terminal operation and its relationship to the hinterland into a BIM design, both the speed and quality of decision-making is improved. The tool was implemented to assess innovative concepts and designs of intermodal freight rail terminals and their
different costs.
As a member of the Consortium, CENIT was in charge of:
- Definition of the KPI framework.
- Assessment of external mobility impact by implementation of a traffic simulation environment.
- Analysis of the results from functional, economic and environmental perspectives.
