The Center for Innovation in Transport (CENIT) is a research group of the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). CENIT was created in 2001 as a public consortium between the Regional Government of Catalonia (Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC). In 2017 the Center became a member of CIMNE. The main goals of CENIT are promoting the knowledge and research in transport and providing technical support to the institutions working in this field. Aware that transport, as an intrinsic element in economic activity and people’s daily life, requires a multidisciplinary analysis, our work areas are structured by mode (rail, road, maritime, logistics, etc.) with a cross-cutting view (economics, operations research, sustainability, transport policy, regional, information and communication technologies, etc.). As a research centre, the core of our activity is to provide scientific method to address the major current and future transport and logistics challenges. The assessment of transport investments and policies, improvement of public transport networks, optimization of operations, application of technology to transportation, demand modeling and urban mobility are some of the areas we work in. We provide specific solutions to real problems. Our activity focuses on research and technology transfer to the public and business sectors. All this activity has been and is made possible through the support of both public institutions and public and private companies over the more than fifteen years of CENIT’s existence. With this experience, enthusiasm and dedication we work on specific aspects of transport, but thinking of global and future mobility needs. Kind Regards, Dr. Sergi Saurí Marchán
