The objective of this study is to develop an inventory of gas emissions CO2 (carbon dioxide), SOx (sulfur oxides), NOx (nitrogen oxides) and PM (particulate matter) derived from cruise ships that perform its scale in the port of Barcelona, both during in and out maneuvers and during their staying in the port.
The document presents the methodology that has been done to analyze a set of 30 vessels operating at the Port of Barcelona. After the calculation, some indicators have been quantified to carry out a comparative analysis and identify relationships to extrapolate the calculation to other vessels for which there are no detailed information about their engines and technical characteristics.
Finally, from the results and air pollution problems detected, recommendations and best practices for vessels and the Port Authority of Barcelona are defined to mitigate or reduce the emission levels.
