Dates: February 2021 – September 2021

Development of a National Maritime Policy and Strategy for Trinidad and Tobago under a consultancy framework for the Ministry of Trade and Industry of The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Policy-making included all maritime-related economic sectors, from fisheries and aquaculture to shipping and ship repair, among many others areas. There was a commitment to the sustainable use of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ocean resources, in line with the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. The policy revolved around economic, environmental and social dimensions, in an attempt to push forward and diversify Trinidad and Tobago’s economy, while promoting the blue economy and its emerging sustainable sub-sectors.
